"Where to Start Can Be Overwhelming!"
Let Me Help You. . .

If you're new to collecting antique maps or prints you probably have all sorts of questions, like how to get started with collecting?  How do you know its an original?  What about buying items safely online.  Who should you buy from?  Are maps a good investment?   If you see this as your next ‘side hustle’ maybe even getting into buying and selling online then you need to know what you're doing.

W
hats it worth?

At its core map collecting is a matter of the heart and a collection pays dividends in the form of intangible benefits: enjoyment, satisfaction, pleasure and beauty.  Maps purchased wisely do appreciate in value over time.  Some maps have increased in value like allegorical and political maps of the 20th century, while others have decreased in value.  So called 'norms' are often broken when you least expect it.

With antique prints its much the same, similar rules apply.  A scarce sought after set of prints in good condition will likely demand a higher price.  What will be their value ten years from now?

Enjoy the chase

One of the attractions of old maps and prints is the limited availability of original works.  Some items rarely come to market for sale, others remain scarce and you have to hunt for them.  This is part of the thrill of collecting, enjoying the chase.  It's essential you know your subject, then you can purchase wisely and make a good investment.
